CNA agrees to new contract with Sutter after 9 strikes

The California Nurses Association has finally agreed to a new contract with a handful of Sutter Health hospitals in the Bay Area.  According to the Vallejo Times Herald, the union conducted nine strikes during the two years of negotiations between the union and the hospitals. In a statement, the union boasted, “After nine successful strikes, Sutter clearly got the message that nurses never give up.”

The only thing CNA was giving up during these strikes was providing patient care.  This was dereliction of duty, not defense of quality care.

CNA members have already voted to ratify the contract, which includes pay raises of up to 6% over the course of the two-year deal.

Next up on CNA’s hit list: Kaiser Permanente.
